VEERAYATAN, PAWAPURI

The village of Pawapuri is located in the district of Nalanda in the state of Bihar in eastern India.  Approximately 25 kilometers away from Rajgir, Pawapuri is the Nirvan Bhumi (place of realization) of Tirthankar Mahavir.  The village has many temples, including the famous Jalmandir, but lacked the temple of learning.  The lack of education has resulted in the severe underdevelopment of this area.

Acharya Shri Chandanaji believes that the preservation of history lies in developing the places of pilgrimage.  Various holy places of pilgrimage have temples for worship and Dharamshalas to stay but lack centers dedicated to imparting top quality education. Inspired to remedy this situation, Acharya Shri Chandanaji, with the help of Sadhvijis and dedicated volunteers, established the Tirthankar Mahavir Vidya Mandir, a modern primary education school at Pawapuri.  Today, the school is offering world class education from nursery to the Seventh Standard. The school is inpsiring more than 475 students and is providing them with the skills needed to attain their dreams.
