Jakhania

Jakhania

The beautiful, eco-friendly Jakhania campus is the very first site where permanent primary and secondary schools were built and started after the devastating earthquake. In the land where generations had been illiterate and where even the basic needs posed a challenge, the centre of learning in Jakhania provided state-of-the-art educational facilities.

Following the generous donation of twenty-three acres of land adjacent to the Bhuj-Mandvi Highway, Veerayatan has created a modern Veerayatan Vidyapeeth in Jakhania. This school, opened in 2003, is dedicated for the development of disadvantaged children in Kutch, without regard to caste, creed or religion. Education at Veerayatan Vidyapeeth is provided free of cost or at highly subsidised rates. The school offers classes from Grade 1 to 12 with Gujarati as the medium of communication and a separate English-medium school from Grade 1 to 7. The education is complemented by a value based, moral and ethical outlook with respect for all, including the environment.

Veerayatan has also created high quality hostel facilities on campus to enable students from all over Kutch to benefit from quality primary and secondary education with residency available for orphans, children with a single parent and children whose parents are unable to look after them. The hostel children are provided with clean and well-equipped accommodation, nutritious meals and holistic care.
