Bihar
Bihar, where Bhagwan Mahavir and Lord Buddha lived more than two thousand five hundred years ago, is the pious land where Veerayatan initiated its work in 1973. At that time Bihar was a lawless state with extremely low literacy rates and communities frightened of dacoits and Naxalites. There seemed to be no hope for the disadvantaged population to break the cycle of poverty and oppression. Veerayatan planted the seed of hope in people’s heart and minds and this seed has now flourished into a gigantic tree of opportunity.
Veerayatan has three main centres in Bihar: Rajgir, Pawapuri and Lachhuar.
Rajgir
An epicentre of spirituality and compassion, a beautiful and peaceful centre located at the foothills of Vaibhargiri hills consisting of:
- The renowned eye hospital, Netra Jyoti Seva Mandiram;
- State of the art NJSM Diagnostic Centre;
- Gautam Gurukul, a school for the disadvantaged;
- Shri Brahmi Kala Mandiram, the exquisite museum;
- The library, modern guesthouse, meditating at the Saptaparni and worshipping at the Parshva Jinalay.

Pawapuri
Pawapuri is Bhagwan Mahavir’s nirvana place, where children, instead of going to school, were begging near the temples. Veerayatan has changed this and now children are no longer seen begging; instead, they are now attending school thus changing their course of life.
