Seva - Healthcare

“Good eyesight can make a huge difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity.”
( Pujya Tai Ma )

Pujya Tai Ma recognises that the most common diseases in parts of rural India are those affecting the eyes. Providing treatment for eye ailments such as cataracts, retina disorders and glaucoma therefore became Veerayatan’s highest medical priority. Commencing in Bihar with eye camps operating from tents, the success of this welfare work soon resulted in the opening of one of the best rural hospitals, Netra Jyoti Seva Mandiram in 1987. More recently, an ultra-modern Shri Adinath Netralay, operating to international standards, has been established in Palitana in 2019.

Seva

Both the hospitals have expert doctors and up-to-date equipment providing excellent healthcare to the local population. The consultation and operation costs are charged at a nominal rate to patients with many being treated at no cost.  The large community of Jain monks and nuns living in and around Palitana are treated free of any costs.

To improve access to healthcare, outreach eye camps are being organised in remote villages in and around Rajgir and Palitana.
