Pujya Tai Ma is a firm believer in the transformative effect of education in improving the lives of children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Veerayatan runs a family of schools providing high quality education to children from underprivileged background in rural parts of India without discrimination of caste, religion, gender or socio-economic background.
These schools give thousands of children access to quality education, providing opportunities for this next generation to be properly educated, prosper, be healthy and become valued members of society.
Environment conducive to learning
Veerayatan believes that the right environment should be created to cultivate learning. The modern school buildings of all the schools are bright and airy, housed in an open and green environment with well-equipped facilities such as computer rooms, music rooms, science laboratories and libraries so as to ensure children have access to activities which stimulate their minds as well as enhancing learning.
Holistic approach
Veerayatan’s approach to education and learning is holistic.
- Creating value-based, high quality academic educational centres providing child-centric education where children are encouraged to reason critically and solve problems, rather than rote learn.
- Children are being taken off the streets and away from a life of begging and crime. Slowly but surely, generations of uneducated, poverty-stricken families are breaking free from this cycle.
- Educating girls is a priority and Veerayatan schools make every effort to motivate parents to send girls to school, thus dramatically reducing incidences of child marriages.
- The schools have school buses which can safely transport children from the villages daily, thereby increasing accessibility.
- Emphasis is put on children and adults having an awareness about the protection of natural resources, cleanliness and good hygiene, and living a non-violent and addiction-free life.
